Morgan Savage, owner of Charlie Ruth Creations, was born in St. Petersburg, Florida and attended Davidson College, receiving a B.A in Economics in 1994. He was introduced to woodworking as a child and learned the craft throughout his teenage years. His passion for painting started with a basic studio class at Davidson. Morgan spent most of his career in the IT and insurance fields. In 2021, he rekindled his passion for woodworking and took many classes at the Florida School of Woodwork in Tampa to reestablish his skill set. In the fall of 2021, he started Charlie Ruth Creations with the intention of creating high-quality, elegant pieces.

ARTIST STATEMENT

My approach to woodworking is simple: combine the elegance of natural wood with small embellishments to produce works that emphasize both functionality and aesthetics. In some projects, I even include painting in my pieces to add a more dramatic element. I draw my inspiration from nature, focusing on the lines or negative spaces therein. My hope is to create unique pieces of art that showcase and elevate the beauty of our natural environment.
